No Pokemon Grey Planned

When speaking with the Spanish site MeriStation at a press event in London last week, Mana Ibe of GameFreak said that after Pokémon Black and Pokémon White, they'll be done with the current Pokémon generation.

This would be breaking tradition, as every previous Pokémon generation has seen a third, enhanced release, in the forms of Pokémon Yellow, Pokémon Crystal, Pokémon Emerald and Pokémon Platinum.

It's been generally assumed all over the internet that a third edition, tentatively referred to as Pokémon Grey would eventually follow up Black and White, but if GameFreak are telling the truth, then that is evidently not the case.

Pokémon Black and Pokémon White were released simultaneously on September 18th of last year in Japan, and are set to be released on March 4th of this year in Europe and March 6th in North America.

Eh, GameFreak doesn't lie when they make announcements. Don't expect it. I want to see remakes of Ruby and Sapphire!

only reason there wouldn't be a third one is that recreating the graphics would be too hard or rather take too long to do.

I could see them making a grey just to make people excited. Then again, they might just end up making people pissed off that they lied..

They don't really recreate graphics. They take old ones, make a few new adjustments, then they add the new stuff.

yeah, but the new games use different graphics that might not be able to reproduce and add more to it easily.

I doubt that there would be a Pokemon Grey, because they would have to make a ultimate new Pokemon colored gray.

I'm sure there will be! Pokemon's still as popular as it ever was, so there's no reason for them not to make more games.

Maybe they paid them to say that then they'll randomly announce it themselves. Or maybe they just lied to them to announce it themselves.

They did! That was what Pokémon Platinum was, and it actually was a lot better than Diamond/Pearl. Less annoying dialogue, better graphics, etc.

Black and White seem to be pretty decent on their own, though, and I don't know where they could improve it (although I'm only on the fourth gym, so maybe something annoying pops up later?). That's probably why they want to focus on making the next generation instead of a B/W remake,

I don't know...I'm still not quite convinced that there won't be a Gray Version. Wouldn't be at all surprised for R/S remakes, though. What I'd really love is a Wii RPG like Colosseum and XD were for GameCube...

Kyurem has been widely speculated as the Unova equivalent to Giratina...and it's gray (or maybe silver).

FYI, B/W has broken records for first-day sales already and has sold fairly well, I believe.

exactly, i don't see anything that they could improved with b/w it's great already.

I'm a little skeptical as it's not Nintendo saying it. While they may not be plans right now, I'm sure there will be down the road.
It's not like Nintendo will give up on such an easy opportunity to make even more money.
