Just the other day we heard that NVIDIA could be working on a new tablet codenamed “Mocha”. Given that NVIDIA already has the Tegra Note lineup of tablets, it was presumed that Mocha would be joining that lineup. However according to recent speculation, it seems that there is a chance that Mocha could instead be part of NVIDIA’s Shield lineup.

This speculation stems from the rumors that the device could feature NVIDIA’s GameStream technology. For those unfamiliar with this feature, it basically allows gamers to play Android games, but also stream PC games as long as they have a Kepler-based desktop system. This would suggest that the Mocha tablet could be a gaming tablet which would fall in line with the company’s Shield device.

Nvidia is doing a lot to promote high quality HD mobile gaming with its Nvidia Shield handheld, and the rumored Mocha Gaming tablet. Hopefully, this Mocha tablet will come with a controller case.

interesting as this sounds,  Nviida doesn't sound like it's doing very well in sales.

Nvidia still sells a lot of PC video cards. I read on a blog that Nvidia is working on the next version of the Shield handheld with the new Tegra K1 Chip which has 192 cores.

I think Nvidia is still more popular than AMD video cards which are not as popular with PC gamers.

In August 2013, Shield handheld outsells Vita in North America, Nvidia ramping up production .

The Nvidia Shield is used mostly by hardcore PC Gamers because they can stream PC games to the Shield handheld, and the Shield is the most powerful mini Android gaming mobile with a controller which can play Android games, and Stream PC games to it.

I think the Shield is selling good enough to convince game makers like Valve to port Portal, and Half-Life 2 to the Shield, and Nvidia still sees the Shield as a good product, so they are still working on the Nvidia Shield 2 which will be even faster, and have better features.

Mobiles and Nintendo are in a different class compared to the Nvidia Shield which is a high quality handheld gaming device designed for PC Gamers, and Gaming Enthusiasts which want the best graphics, sound, controller and battery life from a handheld, and the freedom to play many games made for Android, and to Stream Windows PC games to their Shield.

While Mobiles and Nintendo handhelds are more about playing fun games, and where the graphics, sounds, controller, and battery life is good enough for a $100-180 handheld.

The Shield selling as well as Nintendo and mobiles is not really possible because the Shield cost $300, and to use the game streaming feature you need a good Gaming PC, and faster Wi-Fi router, so there are fewer people with $300 to spend on a handheld, and also owns a Gaming PC, and faster router for Streaming games to the PC. But, the Shield can still sell well to PC Gamers, Gaming Enthusiasts, and Hardcore Gamers who are willing to spend more money for a quality handheld.

As more people become PC Gamers, the Shield will sell even better because it is currently the only handheld which can stream full HD games to it.
