Welcome to Project SHIELD - Android Thursdays. In this series we'll show you examples of how we use the Tegra 4-powered Project SHIELD to play our favorite Android gaming titles.

In this episode, we take you through a demo of Project SHIELD playing the Tegra 4-enhanced version of Riptide GP 2. With enhanced water and particle effects, HDR lighting and full controller support, the folks at Vector Unit have taken their original Riptide GP title to the next level.
Awsome, I wish I owned the Nvidia Project Shield gaming handheld, and Google Android tablet, so I can play Riptide GP 2.

Riptide GP 2 looks awesome on the Shield.

The shield has an actual controller, so there is no need to use a touchscreen which is not as fun for playing games like Riptide GP 2, Shadow gun, and Samurai Vengance 2. It can also stream Steam games from your Gaming PC via Wi-Fi.

The Screen on the Shield is bigger, and higher resolution than most lowend smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Mini.

The speakers on the Shield produce richer, and louder sound than almost all phones which uses tiny speakers.

You aren't forces to sign a 2 year contract when you buy the Shield. Buying a decent phone without a contract can be 2 times more expensive than the Shield. A phone like the iPhone 5 without a contract cost hundreds more than the Nvidia Shield. Plus, a lot of people still use older Blackberry, iPhones, and slower Android phones which are not compatible with games like Riptide 2, or are too slow to play newer games for Android.

Not everyone wants a smartphone, and don't have a need for a smartphone because they don't leave their home much, or can get by fine with using pay phones, home phones, prepaid $50 cell phones which can't play modern games like Riptide GP 2.

Games use a lot of battery life, and the Shield has a larger battery than most phones, so you can play for many hours longer.

The Shield also has a clam shell case which will protect the screen when you close the clam shell case.

The Shield also uses Google Android 4.2.2 Jellybean unlike the large number of Android phones which still use 2.3 Gingerbread, 2.2 Froyo, and 4.0 ICS which can are not as smooth as the latest version of Android on newer hardware like the Tegra 4 CPU/GPU.
