So if you are like me, you're probably a proud owner of an Nvidia Shield gaming tablet. I got a notification on mine earlier about tablets sold between July 2014 and July 2015 being recalled. I bought my shield back in September of 2014 so I checked to make sure I was running the right stuff and was eligible. I was and was able to put in for a free replacement. The recall has to do with the battery. The battery in these models can be faulty and cause fire hazards. So I figured why not get a replacement to be safe, even though my shield has been fine and doesn't overheat.
They say they'll deactivate your current shield upon the new one arriving and being activated but i'm sure there's ways to get the old one working again and ending up with two working tablets.
