"Some New York lawmakers who aren't so experienced with the internet have finally learned how to go on the internet and see that people can leave comments anonymously." Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian discuss this EPIC FAIL by the New York state government.

I feel this won't work, and can lead to unwanted attention by Anonymous web users.

Ban online comments? Can't our law makers concentrate on that trillion dollar debt?

Maybe law makers don't want people anonymously complaining online on the Trillion dollar debt, so the current government can get re-elected in the next state election.

I agree they can't stop all of the anonymous commenting, but they can stop some law abiding people from anonymously commenting, but it might make more people comment anonymously, or make people use Proxy sites like the types of sites kids use to access block websites like YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter at school or public computers at the library, internet cafe, or community center to hide themselves while commenting.

I think NY wants to make sure that all comments have real online IDs so that they can track down those who post such criticism online. It's about like the Chinese or Iranian model of having internet IDs when going online at internet cafes.

Maybe they are trying to exterminate the trolls? But this way won't work anyhow lol. They are wasting more time on something that will just make the internet worse.

Isn't that about taking away the right for freedom of speech?
Basically the comments on the internet these days are where most people express their opinions now. If that right is taken away, it's like hardcore censorship.

Anyone should be able to comment on anything they want as long as they don't say something rude or hateful.

This is just stupid altogether. What happened to the 1st Amendment/free speech?

I love The Young Turks, though. They put out the best political videos on the web, IMO.
