Translated by VGC from Promobricks:

The set will be released in August to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Atari and will cost $199.99 USD.

It’s currently unknown if the set will come with Minifigures, but it does have a set number, 10306.

Promobricks understands that while the console set will launch in Lego stores and online in August, it “will probably also be available in stores in January 2023”.

It’s typical for large, Lego Store exclusive sets to be sold by non-Lego retailers a few months after launch, as was the case with the Lego NES.

Yes, I like how serious sets look very real to what it's based on, but that is going to be a lot of black pieces, reddish-brown, some red, and some trivially placed colored tiles for the TV if there are any. But it feels like a collector thing and not really something you can truly enjoy unbuilt or not nostalgic for.

Read this from VGC and Promobricks:

“LEGO Atari 2600 comes with 3 cartridges with the games Asteroids, Adventure and Centipede.” writes Promobricks. “The special feature here: The game cartridges can apparently be converted into small vignettes (8×8) to match the game themes they contain.”

The set will also seemingly allow players to remove a section the roof of the console to reveal a scene within the machine itself.

“You can see a typical 80s youth room, a minifigure sitting on the floor with a joystick in his hand and playing Asteroids on a tube TV. There is a mini Atari in front of the television, various posters are hanging on the room wall, there is a ghetto blaster, an old-fashioned telephone and a white cat,” Promobricks reports.

video of it, nice:

I liked it a bit and it has some references to older Lego themes, but there are still a lot of common pieces so it's for those nostalgia fans to decide if they want it on their shelf or not. There are some new molds if not at least one though for the cable, which is getting more than one color also seen in an Avatar set.

That is amazing! So real looking. I remember playing Atari when I was a kid & was cool to see Pitfall in this video. This had to have taken a long time to do. To get it "just right".
Has anybody tried doing this or something similar? What do you do with the finished product?

Glad you asked. It sits on a shelf or you take it apart and built something else with those pieces and the rest of your collection.
