A live-action film adaptation of One-Punch Man was originally announced by Sony in April 2020 after the studio acquired the film rights from Shueisha. The project received no major developments until Lin boarded the project as director just under two months since he departed Fast X. Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, who previously worked together on Jumanji: The Next Level and Venom for Sony, will write the script for the feature-length adaptation of the popular manga series.
