Optimism vs Pessimism

Which would you say would describe you?

I used to be a massive optimist until the end of 2011 when a particular huge event hit my loved ones and myself quite hard. Now I hate everything about the world.

When I was younger I was very optimist but nowadays I'm not.. pessimist is a good word to describe me now.

1. I'm a woman. Not a sir, señor, or monsieur, but a female, like you.

2. Life experience and a very cynical view of the world around me compounds the fact that intelligence, self respect, personal responsibility/accountability and common sense are all dying traits. They say that New Yorkers are cynical, but I am in a league of my own.

3. People, in general, are idiots. Not all people, just most of them, and it will only get worse. I've only been on this planet for 31 years, and I've noticed how rapidly and sharply society has declined in the last 5 years, let alone the last decade, and we haven't yet begun to plummet..

It's not that I walk around like Eeyore, believing that everything is depressing and miserable and will always be, it's just that the odds tend to favor the negative, and I'd much rather be prepared for a negative outcome, and stay a step ahead, instead of being blindsided by it. Even if, the outcome ends up being positive.
