This is another RPG I thought up. Yes it's complicated and the rules and info is long. DEAL WITH IT. Be thankful there's no complicated battle system. Also, the basic storyline will be in the actual RPG topic.
PLEASE READ THESE FIRST. I shouldn’t have to correct people when they’re only signing up. Geez.
Basic Rules
So what do you have to do to sign up? Well just follow the information given and fill out the form at the end! Once I approve of your Sign-Up (probably via PM) change the words SIGN-UP to PROFILE please!
Name: Your character’s name. Be creative!
Status: OK? Or have you got a Status Ailment? Be sure to note it here.
Species: What species is your character? You can be anything you like... BUT. YOU MUST HAVE TWO ARMS AND TWO LEGS. NO MORE (Wiggler, for example) no less (Bob-Omb, for another).
Appearance: What do they look like? A picture makes a good reference here folks, because you may have to be precise otherwise!
Personality: What’s your character like? What do they enjoy and hate?
Magic Element: Which Element can you use? See Magic.
Special Ability: You can have only ONE of these but can use it perfectly all the time and at any time. Maybe you run fast. Or can transform. Or turn invisible. Or teleport. Or even fly. You don’t have to
have one pf these though, they are optional.
Items: You have a bottomless bag, like the last game. What’s in it? There shouldn’t be ANYTHING at the start!! You store ALL Items here, none at Home.
Partners: See the appropirate section for more info. This is the list of current partners you have. Their actual profile, if you want one for them, needs to go BELOW your 'main' character's profile.
Orbs: Which colour of Orbs do you have, and how many of each? These, no matter how many you have, are always carried in the Bag. See Orbs below. Note: You do not start the game with any Orbs. Thanks Skymin50 for pointing this one out!
Weapons (Equipped): Which weapons will you be using? Try for no more than three at a time. I mean, no way I’m letting you carry 20 swords. You will need to put the type and range too, see Weapons.
Weapons (Home): These are the Weapons in your Home. No, weapons cannot be stored in the Bag. If they are, they mysteriously turn to dust when you try to pull them out. will need to put the type and range too, see Weapons.
Equip-able Gear (Home): Things like gloves, capes, armour and all that you can buy go here. As with Weapons, don’t store them in the bag. Gear doesn’t help you in any way. It’s just... There.
Because you want to look like Mickey Mouse with your cool yellow boots or Sonic with his white gloves or even Mario with that sweet cape. The clothes you normally wear should be stated in Appearance. So for example starting off with no cape but getting one and equipping it later.
Equipped Gear: This is what you have equipped, mainly clothing. The weapons have their own section.
Coins: The currency. How many do you have? You get 10 to start with. See Post to find out how to get more, and Items and Weapons to find out their costs.
So here’s the form:
SIGN-UP

Magic Element:

Coins: 10
Remember to change SIGN-UP to PROFILE.
Post
These are the rules for each post. Please do your best to follow them!
Also, make the post a decent length. No one-liners and no 50 paragraph essays. Between 1 and 10 paragraphs is a good length.
Abbreviations:
Little abbreviations to help identify what’s going on. Put these where they matter. Some of them only I (the host/gamemaster) will be allowed to use.
ALLZ (ME ONLY): This is info EVERYONE should read, as something in the game, say the environment, has changed somehow or something (like an earthquake) has occurred.
NEWZ (ME ONLY): I’ll only use this if there’s something like a new rule, or I’m going away for a while, or something like that. Recommended you read this bit too.
GM (ME ONLY): Game Master. Just letting you know what’s going on, like possible restrictions on what you can do (not too often though, only for the first two posts or so). Better read this one as well.
RP: This’ll let everyone know you are currently taking place as the character you made.
OOC: Out Of Character. Gotta ask someone or let them know you are talking to them but didn’t use a name? Use this instead.
Coins:
So how do ya get Coins? EASY. Roll a 20 sided die (if you don’t have one, use *insert random.org link here*) each post. This is how many Coins you’ll get. You don’t even have to say how. You just... Pick them up. Until you get off the Prison Ship (see Story) you can’t pick any up. If you want to, you can roll additional dice for beating enemies, or robbing them. DO NOT ROB OTHER PLAYERS PLEASE. And no double, triple, or quadruple posting just for more Coins.
Home
This is where all your stuff can be stored, but you’ll need to acquire one first. I’ll let you know when you can in a PM, so don’t fret about having to spend Coins on it. Decorate it as you like. All you have is a desk, a chair, a bookshelf, a rug, and a bed. You’ll have to provide me some details when you get a house (like what kind of bed you want and its location, e.g. a cave or treehouse) but that’ll come when you get the PM.
Battle
The first battle system seemed awfully confusing and the second wasn’t too great either. This time around there’s no die rolling required, but if you like you can use it to get a little more chance stuff thrown in. Just a 6-sided die will do, and DO NOT POST WHAT YOU ROLLED, just say what happens. So here’s what happens when you roll:
Rolling for self:
1: Whatever you tried it didn’t work. Put simply it had no effect. You’d of had more luck throwing sand at their feet.
2: You missed. Maybe you tripped over, or maybe your aim’s a little off, but whatever it was you missed.
3: You hit them but they are still standing. It wasn’t too effective.
4: A decent amount of damage was dealt to them.
5: You might not’ve killed them off but you certainly dropped them to the floor faster than a sack of wet potatoes.
6: You just made a fool of yourself and fell flat on your face. Smart one, dumb one.
Rolling for Enemy:
1: Whatever they tried it didn’t work. Put simply it had no effect. They’d of had more luck throwing sand at their feet.
2: They missed. Maybe they tripped over, or maybe their aim’s a little off, but whatever it was they missed.
3: They hit you but you are still standing. It wasn’t too effective.
4: A decent amount of damage was dealt to you.
5: They might not’ve killed you off but they certainly dropped you to the floor faster than a sack of wet potatoes.
6: They just made a fool of themselves and fell flat on their face. Who’s laughing now?
Use your Orbs, Talismans, Weapons and Items to get you through battles. Remember you don’t need to use a die, just post up what happened.
Magic
Ahhh, Magic. Fun. You have complete control over ONE element, so you can do what you like with it. You wanna summon a pillar of fire? Go for it. You wanna zap all your opponents with a large lightning bolt? GO FOR IT. HOWEVER, using it to attack is where you MUST roll a die, because of the non-limitations I’m giving you here you can’t just destroy it all without taking some extreme risks. The die rolls are exactly the same as before. (See Battle.)
You can use Magic in other ways too. Like creating a flood just because there’s an enemy structure in the way, like a gate.
You can only have ONE element. You can change it but you will need to PM me first, and then find a Scroll detailing that element. Another thing to, is you control everything about that element. So Fire means you can control lava, and water you can control ice. Also, you are immune to any status effects the Element you have selected may give (e.g. being Electric means you don’t get paralysis).
The Elements are as follows:
Fire: Use the power of flames to destroy things. This’ll fire things up. And possibly dish out a few burns.
Water: Cool things down with a little water. Ride a tidal wave over land just for transportation. Why the heck not?
Electricity: Zap it. Zap it all. Electrocute enemies, and possibly power things easier.
Earth: Use the power of rocks to crush opponents. Or summon a tall pillar to get away from them. Bowl them over with a boulder or escape, it’s your choice.
Dark: Wield the power of darkness, black shadows that are thrown out and take many forms. Or maybe you could turn into a shadow yourself...?
Wind: Blow everything away with this Element. You want a tornado you can have one. Be sure to warn your friends of falling cows afterwards though.
Forest: Use leaves and vines to get through hazards. Easily swing over a pit (but watch out for that tree, heh.) and talk to the trees themselves.
Weapons
Weapons can be whatever you want, but let’s not make them overpowered, ok? Weapons are divided into three types:
Melee – Weapons that bash people over the head. They only have one range, which is of course Melee. But you can throw them parallel to the ground for about 5 feet, and they’ll came straight back.
Magic – Send magical rifts of your element to your foes. No, you don’t need one of these to use your element. You can also summon projectile-like magic, like a fireball.
Projectile – Use bullets of some kind to deal out the damage. Of course, they could also be small energy shots or even lasers. They normally aren’t Melee range, but that’s not counting for hitting something with the large end of the weapon.
And three kinds of range:
Melee – Combat attacks here, none of that shooting stuff. Smacking your enemies over the head was always more satisfying.
Short – These Weapons don’t have a very long range, but they can get you out of scrapes easy. Put simply you can hit stuff about 10 feet away.
Long – You can hit things about 20 feet away, but try not to shoot at melee range, these weapons just weren’t made for it. But it’ll be impressive if you nail a headshot, that’s for sure.
Make sure to explain what the weapon’s name is and maybe what it looks like, but in particular you MUST note the above details. Also, you start out with strictly a Melee Melee weapon. The others you shall have to forge (see below).
Forging:
You don’t BUY weapons, you MAKE them. Well, if you can find a forgery or blacksmith. But whilst you can get your own personal look and style, it comes at a price, and they aren’t cheap either. These are the combinations you can have and how much it’ll set you back, from least expensive (Melee-Melee) to most expensive (Magic-Long).
Melee-Melee: 100 Coins
Magic-Melee: 125 Coins
Projectile-Short: 125 Coins
Magic –Short: 140 Coins
Projectile-Long: 180 Coins
Magic-Long: 200 Coins
Talismans
Talismans have, from this moment onward, been removed from the game, please remove them from you character profiles. They have been moved over for...
Partners
People that you meet during the game that are thought up by you. They are, essentially, another character that you control. They do NOT need a profile page (but if you want feel free to give them one, edit your main character's profile post and include them underneath it. You can also provide nothing more then a brief description of them (see Shade, Shyril's partner, in my profile for Shyril.) You can have... Let's give this a limit... Up to 4 partners at any time and can 'shove them off' whenever you feel like doing so. However don't expect them to be all nicey-nice if you meet up again. You CANNOT have one from the game's start and will have to bump into one, so make it interesting.
Items
You can buy these from the Shops. Status healers can somehow activate even when you can’t get to them. These are the current ones I thought of and their cost and effects:
Healing Herb: Heals you and makes you feel better. 10 Coins.
ParalysisDote: Stops any Paralysis effects. 20 Coins.
Burn Cream: Get rid of those nasty burns. 20 Coins.
Ice Thaw: Melt that ice. 20 Coins.
Smoke Bomb: Good for tactical retreats. They release a large puff of smoke that lasts some time. 30 Coins.
Dummy-Diversion: A small doll that, when thrown, completely baffles the enemy. They know it’s a doll but seriously. What the hell? Best thrown when you’re hiding somewhere. 40 Coins.
Revive Star: This’ll bring you right back to consciousness. 75 Coins.
Full Heal: Completely heals you, cures any status effects, and heals all wounds. 100 Coins.
Bandage: Taken small cuts, bruises or maybe a broken bone? Take a roll to help support it. 60 Coins, but they last forever so you won’t need another one.
All items, except for bandages, have one use only, you’ll have to buy more.
Orbs
Orbs have 4 different colours and each colour has a different effect. You can find them around the place every 2 posts or so. Roll a die to find out which colour it was. Unlike Coins, STATE how you found it, like looking under a bush or as a gift.
1, 2, 6: Dark Green
3: Red
4: Blue
5: Red or Blue
These are not final, for when Yellows are first discovered the numbers will be a bit more diverse.
Here’s what the colours do:
Dark Green: The most common Orb. These where either already this colour or another colour that has been used, burning out into this one. They don’t provide bonuses but they aren’t useless: The Portals don’t work without them! You’ll need certain amounts to go to different places.
Red: Boost your Magic power by a lot. A simple pillar of fire becomes a swirling vortex of lava. Be careful, they only last one minute and then burn out to Dark Green.
Blue: Briefly boost your speed. You might not hit harder but you sure can hit faster. And avoid a few shots too. Be careful as this lasts just a single minute before the Orb burns out to Dark Green.
Yellow: ??? More info when I decide to introduce them.
Status Ailments
Thought it was all fun and games huh? Well you can get worse off with these guys. Heal ‘em quick, as some prevent movement and others restrict it.
There is no real way to get these so I am trusting you to randomly acquire them yourself.
Paralysis: Well, you can’t move. You want too but can’t. Electric attacks often bring this on. Affects the whole body. Goes away after 5 posts that aren’t yours.
Frozen: You’re encased in a block of ice, so an ice attack will bring this on. But you can’t move that body part or all of it depending how bad the attack was. Goes away after 5 posts that aren’t yours.
Burn: A burn has appeared on your body due to taking a fire attack. Doesn’t really affect you too much, but it will hurt if force is applied. Heal it quickly before you wear yourself out from pain. But they
can be quite large if you’re not careful. Goes away after 5 posts that aren’t yours.
Other injuries: Yes, you can get cuts, bruises, sprains, fractures, breakages etc. You can’t get ill though. They last for as long as you want them too. Better off getting a bandage to support it and shield it though.
OK: You’re fine, nothing’s wrong.
Getting Around
Visiting each world means finding enough Dark Green Orbs to open the Portal to get there. Portals are large archways that have a slight image of where they lead. Jump, walk, fly, or yes even trip into one to go to that world instantly.
Basically: You are in a World with Portals. Each Portal takes you to a Realm, where you can meet new friends, destroy foes, and collect the essential Orbs. Then take the Portal back to the World. Travelling between the Worlds requires a mode of transportation, like a bi-plane, hot air balloon, or even a boat. More on those when I decide another World should be opened.
Portals CANNOT take you to new Worlds and transportation CANNOT get you to a Realm. If people like I might let them make a Realm off of their imagination. Also, you want a Map? I just spent a good few hours over two days typing this. You can wait a while (a good few weeks! Lol) or make one yourself (PM me if you wanna do that. But you’ll need to follow my directions of it. As a reward, you might get some Coins, Items, Talismans or I might even let you design a World or Realm yourself.)
Making Locations/Adding Backstory to Locations
Feel free to add locations as you wish, this actually helps make less work for me in the long-run. When someone else makes a new location, feel free to jump on in. However, ask for permission before you say anything that is related to that location, for example, what it was used for. E.g. Dan creates World A and I go in and say that it was once used as a lair to hide The Dark Prognosticus, I will need to ask Dan if I can do that first (use a PM or VM) before posting it. You should leave the details of a created world to it's creator, they will fill in the missing holes as much or as little as they like.
So that’s 9 pages worth of rules according to Word. Do I care? NO. You wanna play you do it right. If you follow then I shouldn’t need to correct, ok? READ THE RULES BEFORE YOU PLAY PLEASE.
PLEASE READ THESE FIRST. I shouldn’t have to correct people when they’re only signing up. Geez.
Basic Rules
- OBEY THE FORUM RULES. Goes without saying, we are still on the forum. No swearing, abusing other members, spamming, etc.
- Sign up here, post over here: http://nintendo3dsco...rbs-and-realms/ After I approve your sign-up, change the words “Sign Up†in your sign-up post here into “Profile†to avoid confusion. This shall also be the location of character profiles. No need for posting again neither, just change the Sign-Up according to the situation.
- Update your character’s profile every time you post. Just so everyone who wants to know what weapon you’re using now is or something similar.
- No posting in the RPG until I approve your sign-up, just so you don’t enter it with something that isn’t in the rules (like entering with a Metal magic alignment when there isn’t one or having a bazillion Coins and Orbs when you should be starting out with 10 Coins and no Orbs.)
- Until the game truly begins we are limited, due to the story and being stuck in a room on a prison ship. It’s therefore not a good idea to post tons during that time.
- I will PM you about a house. Do not ask for one, you will get one eventually.
- You are in control of your character’s actions, no die-rolling required (for most parts). But likewise I don’t want you doing everything perfectly all the darn time, that’s NOT the idea.
- If you don't have a 20 and 6 sided die then you can't play. JOKING. You can find a 6 sided die here (change it to ONE virtual die) and both 20 and 6 sided here (20 is the very bottom, 6 is second from the top. Just hit roll and pay no attention to the jargon on the right.)
- I've given you much, much more freedom to do what you like. The die rolls that are essential (Talismans, Orbs, Coins) are there to keep things BALANCED. Others, like Battle, are entirely OPTIONAL.
So what do you have to do to sign up? Well just follow the information given and fill out the form at the end! Once I approve of your Sign-Up (probably via PM) change the words SIGN-UP to PROFILE please!
