The original composers of the first Halo game are now suing Microsoft, claiming they are owed for royalty payments dating back the game's full 20 years. Composers Marty O’Donnell and Mike Salvatori filed the lawsuit in June 2020 with no agreements yet to be made. If there are no agreements made in the next week there is chance this case could go to court.

The guy likes to sue lol read this bit from gamesindustry biz:

O'Donnell has engaged in a number of legal actions in recent years with a variety of outcomes.

After his termination from Bungie in 2014, O'Donnell sued Bungie for unpaid work and vacation time, and the matter was quickly settled. The next year he won an arbitration decision in a dispute over Bungie ownership shares he was forced to give up upon his termination from the studio.

However, that arbitration outcome also ordered him to surrender his rights and all copies of his Music of the Spheres work on Destiny. When he began sharing that music on various sites in 2019, he was found in contempt of court and ordered to pay $100,000.

The law giveth and taketh away from those looking for conflict haha. Bet he'll run out of money for these efforts.

I'm surprise that the composers who are Marty O’Donnell and Mike Salvatori decided to sue Microsoft after 20 years of Microsoft using the composers music tracks, and did not sue many years sooner.

True but by that earlier point there would be less reward for suing and you can only do it right once otherwise it's double jeopardy.

The suing game lol

Pheonix Wright but in the US instead of US & Japan merge law (from that one GameTheory episode)
Phoenix Wright should defend the fan made stuffs that were DMCA-ed by Nintendo Lawyers lol

It is good to see that Microsoft and O’Donnell/Salvatori, Inc. resolve their difference without the need of a lengthy legal court case.
