The latest update on the Kickstarter page, posted on Friday, reveals that hardware units for developers will begin to ship on December 28. These will be early versions of the controller and console combo designed for testing Android games on the OUYA platform.

The first batch of $99 OUYA consoles for those who made a purchase without developer credentials is slated to ship sometime in March 2013. The Kickstarter project originally launched during the summer and reeled in 63,416 backers pledging $8,596,474 USD.

Cool, I wonder would this mean Developers will also be looking for beta testers to test out the game, and Ouya console before the March 2013 launch of the Ouya game console.

Glad to hear the Ouya is still prices at $99 when it releases in March 2013. I wonder would it be available to buy at local retail stores like Gamespot, Walmart, Bestbuy, etc on March 2013.

I'm sure one of those listed stores will sell them, but I hope they can do advertising on the same level as big gaming consoles.

Maybe Ouya be like Steam where it barely advertise its games and services, but get a lot of attention from Gamer blogs, forums, and Social networks because of their cheap prices for games costing a few dollars or free for older titles.
