It is good to hear that Ouya is using Google Android Jellybean instead of Ice Cream Sandwich which is older then Jellybean. Hopefully, the newer operating system from Google Android will make Ouya run games faster then Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Amazing how small the Ouya circuit board is compared to the pop can beside it in the picture posted above.

The source code for Android is available under free and open source software licenses. Google publishes most of the code (including network and telephony stacks)[85] under the Apache License version 2.0,[7][86][87] and the rest, Linux kernel changes, under the GNU General Public License version 2.

Google maintains most of its code, but it also uses code from Linux, so no one really owns Android because it is free and open source software according to Wikipedia.

There are no royalty payments for using Android on a phone, tablet, or game console since Android is a modified version of Linux Operating System which is also free and open source since it is maintained by mostly Linux volunteers.
