The Ouya operating system will be available to download and install on external Android devices within six months, the firm revealed on Tuesday.

Ouya lead engineer Zak Phelps told Digital Spy that the OS and storefront can be installed on any sufficiently powerful Android device, allowing users to install, buy, and play Ouya's existing selection of games as part of its Ouya Everywhere initiative.

That way if you want to install onto a tablet you can, under some very specific guidelines about here's the types of things it'll work with and won't work with," Phelps said. "[It's] in our best interest to provide our developers with the widest base possible".

I think this is a good decision by Ouya since a lot of people already own Google Android compatible devices like settop boxes, smartphones, and tablets which also support external Bluetooth gamepad controllers like the Moga Pro Controller.

Ouya can also sell more games to people who choose not to buy an Ouya since people will now have the operating system and a compatible device like Madcarz Mojo or PC to run Ouya games which are exclusive to the Ouya operating system.

Ouya should also partner with Amazon Fire TV, Steam, Gamepop, Gamestick, Google Android TV, Roku and Apple TV to promote their games, so more gamers can find them, and play them.
