Yeah, bit late, but this site isn't really in active news posting mode anyway. Still, this happened:

And well... all hell broke loose. Maybe not so much on my video, but Jesus Christ, the game looks like a bad Sticker Star sequel. And dear god, everyone is really, really pissed off about now.

Just look at how many downvotes GameXplain's videos got:

Ouch. And Twitter and forums are basically on fire after this game got announced, to the point every single discussion is akin to 'fifty two ways the game should fail and the developers burn in hell'. Like this:

But yeah, what do you think? Personally, I'm not touching this with a five hundred foot bargepole unless there's at least one interesting, original character other than the silly paint bucket partner guy. If it's Sticker Star 2, then frankly, Intelligent Systems don't deserve my money.

I was mad when I saw it. As soon as they said "card" I was already disappointed by another gimmick. I know Mario and Luigi is now the rpg of the series, but good lord if you're going with any kind of Paper Mario game, at least make it play like Super Paper Mario.

I might buy it still, but man that's upsetting.

Sticker Star is more FUN than the other Paper Mario RPG games! *runs*

If they can combine the positives of Sticker Star with the positives of the other games, this game might turn out alright.

You can run, but you won't get away!

anyways, I need to see more before I downplay this game. Though I think I be better off getting the first paper mario game on the VC.

"Checks the date when Paper Mario: Sticker Star came out in Japan?" December 6, 2012
"Checks the date for the Sandy Hook shootings?" Dec 14, 2012

........ :(

I'm always willing to give them a chance before deciding they're awful. Sticker Star may not have been my favorite game and I found it boring at times, but I still enjoyed it enough to have bought it. I imagine this will be the same at the worst.

This silly video downvoting on videos is obnoxious- you haven't even played it yet, so you really can't judge.

I don't really mind either way. One global spelling makes it easier to tag about the game.
Given taht they had the portable be Gameboy Color, I am not really expecting them to add the U for Europe.

As for the game itself, I haven't played the other ones so I don't see anything that gets my attention. It just look like a continuation for the 3DS one. But if it was that, then why would the fanbase be so upset?

Because Sticker Star was the most not Paper Mario game in the whole series. Paper Mario and Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door were traditional turn based rpgs, Super Paper Mario was a platformer, but kept the rpg element. If I recall, it's been a long time since I played it, Sticker Star got rid of the rpg element and added a feature where you attack with stickers. It wasn't fun and sometimes you had to have a specific sticker and if you didn't, you were pretty much screwed. I'd rather have another game like Super Paper Mario if they aren't going for one like the original or TYD.

I appreciate you took the time to explain it to me. So from what I now understand each newer game after the Thousand Year Door became something else and that many fans would rather a sequel for TYD or Super Mario RPG than these ones.

What confused me though, is that I don't recall this anger when Sticker Star was first announced. Maybe I missed that and it is why the outrage of Paper Mario color got me off guard. I mistakenly thought people were cool with the past one.

People were probably more willing to give the new features a chance then, and also weren't aware of how different the gameplay would be when you actually sat down to play it. When it resoundingly disappointed essentially everyone, and then Nintendo goes on to create another game that's seemingly following in the same vein despite this, it really irks people I guess. I would still lean towards giving it a chance, rather then hating it just from the announcement preview, but the internet is far from being a calm and logical bunch. For all we know, they may have fixed the issues the issues with Sticker Star that made it unenjoyable, and while it may not be the traditional Paper Mario everyone wants, it may still be better then Sticker Star was.

Basically what Brunn said. When they first announced Sticker Star we didn't know what we were getting into. They said Paper Mario and the fans went wild because was like 4 years since the last one.

I'm still willing to give this game a chance, but I'm still a little scarred by Sticker Star. And I'm not saying Sticker Star is the worst game ever. It had some neat locations, and the sticker idea was pretty good. It just didn't flow well with Paper Mario and it could've been used for another title.

I'm mildly interested in the game, and I'll probably end up watching some video of it before I decide to rent it. As of right now, it looks like the boring Toad and Papercraft modes from Paper Jam, but worse. I see potential in the card aspect, but my hopes aren't high.

Yeah, people are taking it a bit too far. I'm not happy about it, but jeesh. We should hear them out when we get more information. Maybe they'll surprise us.

Saw this video while searching up something new for Color Splash and............
