PayPal Sues Google

Not willing to let them shine for too long, PayPal has sued Google immediately following the announcement of Wallet, Google's mobile payment service.

According to Bloomberg, the dispute comes as the result of the alleged actions of Osama Bedier, a former PayPal executive that now works for Google. PayPal is accusing Bedier of revealing their trade secrets to Google and major retailers for use when creating Google Wallet.

While PayPal is widely recognized as an e-commerce tool, the company is, in fact, in the process of creating a point of sale system of their own.

In addition, Stephanie Tilenius, another former PayPal executive now at Google, left the company in 2009 and was under contract to not recruit employees. Purportedly, Tilenius had major involvement in Bedier obtaining his position with his current employer.

Will PayPal stop Google Wallet before it even officially launches? It's tough to tell at this point, but you can bet that Google won't go out without a fight.

I don't own a smart phone, so it is unlikely I ever use Google Wallet. I'll keep using Paypal as well since it has been pretty trouble free and reliable for me.

I think it'll take much more for Google Wallet to overtake Paypal. Money handling is a trust issue and I think Paypal has done very well in security and obtaining customers' trust.
Also it's pretty convenient using Paypal, so I doubt many will take the switch.

Paypal, you have limited 3 of my accounts totalling to $1700.00 :emo-wallbash: And I'm not the only one to have experienced this.

I'm just looking forward to Google Wallet. I hope it doesn't limit my account and that it's available internationally.

They're giving out $10 for trying out their service too! :dance:

Nice! With the $10, I'd probably go try it out.
I still think it'll take a while for people to get used to Google Wallet since most services have used Paypal for a while.

Google Wallet sounds interesting. I'd love to see it released. PayPal can just suck it up and let Google release it. So immature... I wonder if PayPal is really going to last long. They limit accounts and basically force you to validate your account. What if you don't have a bank account?..

I have always trusted paypal. I wouldn't switch to google's service, unless paypal died and they had google wallet on ebay and other webstores.

I hope it stops it since google does too much already we need other companies to do things as well incase google ever goes down
