Solutions Research Group conducted a survey with 1200 American consumers and found out that 75% of them want a new gadget for the holidays.
What they desire are ranked after the cut:
1. HDTV (35%)
2. Windows Laptop (20%)
3. Digital Camera (17%)
4. Windows Desktop
5. GPS Car System
6. Cell Phone
7. Digital Video Camera
8. Nintendo Wii
9. Sony PS3
10. HD-DVD or Blu-Ray Player
11. Apple MacBook
12. Xbox 360
The iPhone clocked in at #15. As Engadget notes, however, even though Apple doesn't crack the Top 10 they are extremely high up in the rankings for their brand.
A Windows laptop (ranked #2) could come from any number of companies, but the MacBook only comes from Apple. The same goes for the cell phones at #6, while the iPhone is an Apple device.
We figured more people would want Wii's this festive season, but we were surprised to see it followed up by the PS3. This could be because many of these consumers already have Xbox 360's or Sony is really starting to turn the PS3 around and get some hype going.
