Electronics these days are also more easily broken by power surges and spikes from your home electricity plugs, so having a high quality surge protected power bar will make your computer and HDTV less likely to be zapped by power surges.
I heard in the future most computers would not need cooling systems or less powerful cooling systems because scientists are researching on how to make computers and other gadgets smaller and cooler which don't make so much heat and use as much electricity which is the cause for most heat problems.
Like Thin Client Computers are being used in Businesses, and Schools. Thin client computers produce very little heat because its programs are run on another computer which is very powerful and have enough cooling to stay cool. The more powerful computer then streams the video back to the thin client computer.
In the future, a lot of our programs will be run off a web server owned by Google, Microsoft, Apple, and other companies, so we won't need powerful computers which make a lot of heat since the program will be run off a web server owned by a company, so it is the company's responsibility to takes care of a web server's heat problem.
The Google Chrome Netbook is a good example of a computer which uses very little power, and does not produce a lot of heat because all of the programs are run on Google's web server and the computer just needs to be powerful enough to run Chrome Web Browser.
Onlive Game Console also does not produce a lot of heat since all the games are run off of a web server which Onlive owns and manage. I believe the console is fanless, and works similar to Digital TV cable boxs where the cable company streams video to your cable, and you use the remote to control the channel, and what TV channels or movies you want to order or watch.
