I have been playing ZombiU for some time, Terraria, and MC (Well... Not lately, anyway.) and I get the satisfaction of knowing, there is a setting for people who like to play it rough, challenging, no string attached. I actually just died in Terraria with my hardcore player... I never EVER select Soft core or Medium, I have yet to commit to a Survival run in ZombiU since I want to at least finish normal mode. Games are awesome, it feels rewarding to beat something like that.

What about fighting games, FPS, RPG, et cetera?

Maybe even Racing? Anyone ever heard of Burnout's series? It's be fun to have the mode in which, crash your car once, pay the price, no mercy. :3

Of course I have no idea if Permadeath has been outside and about any other game. I only know few.

I'd look into the roguelike genre.

One of the best permadeath games in my opinion is dwarf fortress (it's free!), but many are instantly turned off by the complexity and graphics of it. There is things to help with the graphics ( http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=59026.0 ) but that will only get you so far. If your willing to invest some time into it and learn a little bit though it pays off. Id list all the amazing features of it but it may be best if you just find them out on your own.

Binding of Isaac is another pretty fun game, and I was just talking about this in another thread but you should look into Realm of the Mad God.

All of these games are permadeath by nature. You can savescum in DF but it's mainly only used for adventure mode. As far as doing permadeath runs Far Cry 3 seems to be a popular one. I don't believe there is a built in feature for it so you'l have to delete your save files yourself.

Impulse probably goes along with that. I played Spelunky for quite awhile a few months ago, and whenever I died, I would take the time to reset the stats.

I guess I can do games like Skyward Sword and FF games with a permadeath playthrough and do the deletion. Since it's not costly. It's the same with ZombiU. Delete, restart, play and win/die.

By the way, Containment Breach butt makes me giggle. :P

Steel Battalion was one of the first I remember getting a lot of press about the feature. You should also invest in Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem if you enjoy strategy games, as those titles have members of your party die for good when they die in combat (and thus cannot be around to recruit new members either).

All I hear is money going down the pooper, right now. D:

I can possibly wait for Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem and hope it's just as good. Grrr. You had a good thought.

I agree with this guy. dwarf fortress are one of the best permadeath games i have ever played. i do wish the graphics could be better :(

The first time I recall seeing Permadeth is Diablo on Hardcore mode. Die and your character gets locked and all you can do is delete it.
