Phone account confirm callings

tonight I made another gmail account, before I could I had to receive a phone call from google to get a confirm code.

Good way to stop spam, but I don't care for the method.

I think this is to prevent people from hacking into your gmail account because everytime you need to log-in to your Gmail account, Gmail will send you a text after you typed in your password then you need to type in the "Gmail text" from your phone before you can log-in. A hacker needs to steal your password, and Cell phone which gmail texts you on to log-in to your account.

Plus, it makes sure you are a real person, and not a bot who will spam forums.

without a doubt it prevents bots. But what if you don't got a phone available?

I think you can skip the phone step when registering for gmail.

I wonder what will happen if you lose your phone number before you forgot to change your pone number will you be locked out of your e-mail.

I read the FAQ on Gmail, and it saids you can use your parents, friends, or stranger phone with text messaging capability on the phone.

yeah, but you have to be there to receive the code. they call you like within 10 seconds.
