How often do you upgrade your phone?

I'll use a phone until it dies then I upgrade to the latest version. I upgrade mainly for the camera.

I was using an iPhone 11 max pro when it first came out before switching to the iPhone 16 max pro last year.

About 3-4 years, it's when I notice they get very slow.

I rarely buy a new cell phone until the phone breaks, or my old 3G or CDMA cell phone no longer works on modern cell phone networks like 4G or 5G.

About every 4 years or so I get a new phone. My phone will be three this year, but I think this might be the last year I get security updates for it so I'll probably end up getting a new one next year or maybe after I pay off the bill from my dentist.

I just had to upgrade my phone yesterday. I think it's been at least 5 or 6 years since I last upgraded my phone. My previous phone was fixing to bite the dust. It wouldn't hold a charge. So, before it lost what little battery life it had, I wrote down all the apps I use regularly and I made sure that I remembered the username and password and all that for each. I knew that I would need them in the event that my husband couldn't fix it and he would end up trading it in for a new one. Well, he ended up having to get me a new one because I can't be without my phone right now (that's a long story). Any important pictures I have on there I sent to my mom through text messages and she's going to send them back to me when she gets a chance (that's part of that long story).

Didn't happen to store stuff on a SD card that you can pull out?

Depending on who makes her phone, you can download a cloud backup.

My phone wasn't charging. The battery was slowly loosing what little juice it had left. Plus, my husband was a work while my phone was dying and he would know how to download to a cloud backup.

Sending the pictures to my mom was the only thing I knew how to do in that moment with what little juice I had left. And she's already sent the pictures back to me so I now have them on my new phone. I've also added the apps that I needed to my new phone so everything is up and running.

It turns out the phone will still charge if you set it on one of those charging stations but you can't charge it by plugging it in with a charging cable. So something is wrong with the port specifically and that doesn't do me any good anyway. When I'm at work, I have to use a charging cable to charge it while I'm at work during my breaks and lunch period (I kind use my phone a lot at my work).

It has been at least 5 or 6 years since the last time I bought a new phone and it was about time I got a new phone anyway. The glass part over the camera had broken and someone was going to cut themselves on it.

Were you not near a computer to be able to Google it? It’s usually only a few presses away.

You can at least learn to do it on your current phone, so if shit hits the fan again, you at least know how to do it.
