Pikmin Wii U

A Pikmin game has long been in development for the Wii. Well, it's not anymore, as Nintendo has announced that the game is instead going to be released on the Wii U.

The original plan was to release the Wii game this year, for the series' tenth anniversary, but once Miyamoto saw the new system's HD graphics and controller, his mind was made up.

"I think that's the perfect system for Pikmin. So we're going to make it for that", he said earlier today at a Nintendo Q&A session.

Miyamoto adds that, because the Wii version was so far along, the release of the game on the Wii U "shouldn't be a long wait".

Could this be the big launch title? If so the other games for it seem kind of sparse, but then there will be another E3 before luanch.

Finally! After the long, Pikmin 3 arrives. I wonder what took them so long...

I'm both happy and sad right now. Pikmin 3 is finally really announced, after so much time. I thought Nintendo just didn't care about it anymore. I'm sad because I don't really want to get a Wii U. Probably will get one after a while, and then I will have a massive backlog of games to get and play, but I won't get one early, that's for sure. It kinda depends on when the next Sony/Microsoft consoles hit, which may take a while...

I am really happy they are releasing a new pikmin for the wii u, as I have never played it and would love to try it out!
