Designed for comfort, the PlayStation 4 controller takes the classic design of the PlayStation gamepad as we know it. Moreover, it is not for nothing that it is called DualShock 4. Several of the features it introduces are effectively note worthy, starting with a small touch pad in the center of the controller that promises new interactions with games. On the right, an Options button replaces the Start and Select duo to launch game menus. The Share button allows players to access social functions put forward by Sony. It is for example possible to directly stream an ongoing game with other players who will then have the opportunity helping the player in the game by offering life potions or special weapons when needed. Facebook, Ustream and others will also be close at hand to share real time gaming experiences.
Among other innovations, we note that the shape of the pads adopt a more ergonomic design. Same for L2 and R2 buttons, slightly dug for better grip. A speaker is added to the DualShock 4 with a socket for connecting headphones directly on the pad. A headset is also delivered automatically to allow players to discuss among them.
Finally, it probably caught the attention of all gamers that there was a light bar is on the upper edge of the handle. This will serve several purposes. Firstly, to identify the different players in friendly multiplayer game sessions. As with the Move, each player will have a different color. The bar can also be used to deliver information, such as a decline in health during a game.

It is easier to understand the work put into making the DualShock 4 to make it THE  next gen controller by doing a DualShock 4 vs. Dualshock 3 comparison.

I hate to see how much the controller alone goes for in price. I also want to know what that small touch screen does.
