At Sony's E3 2012 press conference the company announced that its Playstation Suite software framework has been renamed Playstation Mobile. The change accompanies the announcement of a new partnership with phone manufacturer HTC to create a line of Playstation-certified Android phones.
Any "Playstation certified" device will be able to download and play games via the Playstation Store that have been developed with Sony's Playstation Suite software framework, now renamed the Playstation Mobile Software Development Kit. Games on touch-screen devices will have virtual buttons overlaid on the screen, while devices with analog inputs like the Sony Xperia play will utilize traditional controls.
Sony had previously partnered with Sony Ericsson on creating Playstation Certified devices. Today's partnership with HTC is the first third-party agreement Sony has announced.
