It was announced early this afternoon that Sony would shut down its AskPlayStation Twitter accounts in a few weeks' time. The tweet states that 1-to-1 PlayStation support will no longer be available and encourages PlayStation users to use the Support tab on the PlayStation website for FAQs, support articles, and "self-help resources." Sony also linked its PlayStation Support YouTube channel for video explanations of PlayStation issues and how to resolve them.

I think Sony is either understaffed or just don't care about providing support via Twitter and just want to provide support via their website. Most people in this day and age like using social media to get support whether the via their support site.

Not sure why anyone would use twitter over thier live chat.

I think some older cell phones have a Twitter app, older cell phones does not have a modern mobile web browser which can use live chat websites because the web browser is very basic, or the phone's CPU and RAM is too slow to run live chat on the cell phone's web browser.

Using Twitter maybe more convenient for some people like how a lot of people use Facebook Messenger, and Instagram direct messaging instead of text messaging on their cell phone.

Tbh, Twitter seems like a terrible format to get help on. Imagine trying to do help with a 280 character space. Live chat is more efficient.

I guess so, but Facebook messenger isn't a bad way to provide support.

I think most of the time they move their support to the Twitter DMs where posts are unrestricted.

Never used the Sony one but I don't think I've ever had a problem get resolved through Twitter support

Maybe I’m too “old school”, but it seems weird to contact a company via social media for support. I was always used to going to their help section on their website.

I'd imagine they would have their own site instead of Twitter. If it's an issue with a certain game or games then it would be easier to contact the said game dev directly if possible especially when they are going to patch something later. Yeah, Twitter support doesn't really help in the long run, but more of a convenience to some people.

It's the last resort for me. Sometimes you're more likely to get a response when a problem is public and the company is more inclined to help out

It just said they’re shutting down their Twitter, unless I missed the part about FB
No they are just shutting down their Twitter, maybe the figured FB would be a better way to provide support.
