The video:

GPU is Weaker than the Xbox Series X. But the PS5's custom SSD looks really good. Wonder on the PS5 Pro...

Backwards compatibility looks good so far:

Lastly, we’re excited to confirm that the backwards compatibility features are working well. We recently took a look at the top 100 PS4 titles as ranked by play time, and we’re expecting almost all of them to be playable at launch on PS5. With more than 4,000 games published on PS4, we will continue the testing process and expand backwards compatibility coverage over time.

“Running PS4 and PS4 titles at boosted frequencies has also added complexity. The boost is truly massive this time around and some game code just can’t handle it. Testing has to be done on a title-by-title basis. Results are excellent, though. We recently took a look at the top 100 PlayStation 4 titles as ranked by play time and we’re expecting all of them to be playable at launch on PlayStation 5.”

That SSD slot they talk about, does that mean I can just buy a SSD and push it in like a memory card?

Also I'm starting to get a feeling that not even Sony knows what the PS5 looks like.

Not just any SSD it must be a NVme SSD that is compatible with PS5, it is like a ram so yeah there should be a ram like slot for the compatible NVme SSD "expansion" card.

I never got the point of teraflops other than its strange name.

But yeah, NVme SSD looks reasonable enough to buy. I wonder how much of the custom SSD is already assigned to the system OS?

And they like to use that for GPU's raw power measurement.

Wonder about that myself.

Also I got to say, that video is extremely boring.

True and thus the backlash. It should be more consumer friendly instead of keeping it a GDC styled presentation for Game Developers.

Sony's Hideaki Nishino just posted this on ps blog:

A quick update on backward compatibility – With all of the amazing games in PS4’s catalog, we’ve devoted significant efforts to enable our fans to play their favorites on PS5. We believe that the overwhelming majority of the 4,000+ PS4 titles will be playable on PS5.

We’re expecting backward compatible titles will run at a boosted frequency on PS5 so that they can benefit from higher or more stable frame rates and potentially higher resolutions. We’re currently evaluating games on a title-by-title basis to spot any issues that need adjustment from the original software developers.

In his presentation, Mark Cerny provided a snapshot into the Top 100 most-played PS4 titles, demonstrating how well our backward compatibility efforts are going. We have already tested hundreds of titles and are preparing to test thousands more as we move toward launch. We will provide updates on backward compatibility, along with much more PS5 news, in the months ahead. Stay tuned!

Read from dualshockers:
Seen in a new report from Bloomberg, a representative from Sony went officially on the record and said that it doesn’t expect the coronavirus epidemic will have an impact on the launch plans for the system later this year. This is definitely a sigh of relief for many PlayStation fans who may have been worried that the console’s arrival could somehow have been affected by this virus.

that's because China is clearing up right?

Read from Pushsquare on Halo's co creator praising Ps5's Custom SSD:

Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto has added his voice to the chorus of praise. Speaking about the speedy tech in general, he told VGC that it will make a “huge difference” to the way that titles are made.

“It will open up the door for more expansive content that can stream a lot faster,” he beamed. “Players won’t be waiting on load screens and we won’t have to hide loading behind cinematics and that kind of thing. It will just help make things a lot more seamless and fluid for the player when it comes to their experience on those consoles.”

He continued: “I am really excited about that because that’s one of the things that’s really hard for us in particular right now: dealing with those old platforms.
