This album is a mix of the popular Pokemon series and the not as popular Nobunaga's Ambitions. The story of the latter draws inspiration from 16th century Japan, the title being the one of the first turn-based strategy games to see the day, making it quite a surprising crossover, the world of Pokemon usually being devoid of any connection with reality.

However, the surprise is only temporary, because, the small creatures fits perfectly with the atmosphere. The story takes place in a region of the world called Ransei, where 17 kingdoms are cut from each other. A legend says that the first person who manages to unite the kingdoms will find Arceus, the Pokemon that founded Ransei. It is through a beautiful cinematic accompanied by beautiful illustrations that we discover this odyssey, undeveloped admittedly, but also perfect for a Pokemon game where fighting takes precedence over history.

The player can select as the main character, a boy or a girl. There is no impact on the story about the choice of genre, adventure placing the player in the role of the King (Warlord) in the kingdom of Aurora. The goal? Challenging the neighboring kingdoms, conquer the 17 kingdoms and become the first person to get their hands on Arceus. The game is turn-based, like a traditional board game. However, luck is not present in Pokemon Conquest. Our character must recruit more mercenaries to help him in his quest. They can be recruited from the realms occupied by our hero, in the same areas where wild Pokemon can be found. These arenas are completely different from each other, since each kingdom has its own characteristics.

Some realms are, for example, excellent for fire type Pokemon, while others are better with water type Pokemon. The players must constantly change their tactics for different opponents and defeat.

Pokemon Conquest is a great game for all players new to turn-based strategy games, as well as recurring players of the Pokemon series. However, the more experienced will find that the game lacks a bit of depth, with fights sometimes taking too much time.
