Someone is trying to remake the game as a mod of Super Mario World for the SNES. Pretty insane for a hack, isn't it? It's like trying to turn Super Mario 64 into the Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask or something...

It is incredible. I wish I understand of this more than I do, but I can appreciate the effort.
I can only wonder how far will he take it.

Hard to say. There is interest in continuing the project, but it's really, really early days at the moment.
