Full 3D gameplay
Unlike any other games in the main series, Pokémon X and Y feature a completely three dimensional style of gameplay, and 3D modeled characters and creatures are used, rather than sprites like has been done since Generation I. The battle system is aesthetically overhauled, featuring more lively reactions to the attacks, such as when a Pokémon is being hit.
Transportation
The player now has the ability to rollerskate, at least under certain conditions.
Gyms
X and Y will feature Gyms like every other main series title. A Gym seen in the Nintendo Direct trailer features the female protagonist standing on a floating platform that transforms into a room.
New Pokémon
See Category:Generation VI Pokémon
Currently, 6 new Pokémon are confirmed for X and Y. How many total new Pokémon will be released is unknown at this point.
The first Pokémon to be revealed were Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Xerneas, and Yveltal on January 8, 2013.

Like the many games before it, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y see players in the role of a Pokémon Trainer who travels across one of the various regions of the setting, catching creatures known as Pokémon and using them to battle against other trainers. For the first time in the series, the entire game, including environments, character models, and battle sequences, are presented in fully polygonal 3D graphics. Along with various Pokémon from previous generations, X and Y will introduce many new species of Pokémon, which include the three new starter Pokémon

Here's a bit of Nintendo news from outside of Nintendo Direct. Sylveon is a new Pokémon for Pokémon X and Y ... kind of. Actually, the mystery creature is a new eighth evolution of the versatile Eevee.

Somehow, this creature has evolved natural bows and ribbons. What is that an adaptation for? We're ... so mystified by vestigial bows. Watch Sylveon in action above and be distracted by the evolutionary impossibility.

The Pokémon Company International is sending a special Valentine's Day treat by officially introducing a new Pokémon that will make its debut in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y this October. The new Pokémon, Sylveon, is a new evolution of Eevee, one of the most beloved Pokémon since it debuted in Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. When a player has Eevee in its party they can evolve it into one of its seven evolutions, like Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. Sylveon will be the eighth Eevee evolution. Download the official art, in-game screenshots, and never-before-seen gameplay video of Sylveon in battle using the link below, which also includes an infographic that illustrates all Eevee evolutions spanning the Kanto to the newest, yet-to-be-announced region of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.

This fits better for a blog in my opinion. At the moment it's just loads of spam. I may leave this thread open for a few more days, but it'll probably be locked if the spam continues.
