Another set:

The System:

- Uses a custom IBM triple-core CPU running at 3.6GHz per core

- The development kit contains 1gb RAM, but Nintendo have hinted that the console will actually have 1.5gb

- Nintendo will be releasing games that will run 1080p natively. Sources say that with Nintendo’s art style and the power of the system, the games look ‘stunning’.

- The system does run on AMD R700 card, but the architecture is slightly different and the clock speeds are much higher.

- The System resembles JPN/EU SNES machines in color only and not in shape

- The development kit is about the size of a 360, not the console

- Close sources say it’s as if Nintendo is in “damage control” with 3rd party developers. Nintendo is trying really hard to get 3rd parties on board to develop games and have offered incentives such as not releasing big-title Nintendo games in holiday seasons to compete against 3rd party titles.

- Nintendo went to many 3rd party developers on guidance on what they were after with the new console in terms of system specs, controller and online system. The Controller:

- Nintendo have been keeping this really quiet and have only given developers controller prototypes to start designing games. However, the final controller build with all the features have only been given to Nintendo 1st and 2nd party developers for now.

- Nintendo had planned on inserting a screen on the controller back when the Gamecube was in development, but opted out due to technology not being advanced enough to be functional

- The controller that’s been given to developers has a large 5.7inch hd (960x640pixel) screen, 2 analogue sticks, 4 face buttons, 3 middle buttons (select/home/start in that order), 2 shoulder buttons and 2 triggers.

- The triggers aren’t as deep as the 360’s triggers, but have plenty of push

- The big thing about the screen is that it’s a multi-touch screen, contains it’s own battery and is detachable from the controller unit

- The screen when detached contains its own memory so developers can store data on it, so gamers can play whatever the developer designs for the screen-only use- When the screen is attached to the controller it works by streaming content directly from the console

- Nintendo are giving developers ideas other than just having it function as a quick menu screen for games while attached, or as a simple tamagochi-like mini-game when detached

- The controller contains a gyroscope, but motion controls isn’t the focus of the controller like it was for the Wii

Games:

- Nintendo will release a Mario platformer as a launch title which hasn’t been done since the N64

.- The Mario platformer looks to be the spiritual successor to Mario 64.

- Gamefreak and EAD are hard at work developing a Pokemon online RPG.

- The Pokemon RPG is not an MMO, but does have a large online emphasis and will be Nintendo’s flagship title when showing off the online capabilities of the console.

- There will be at least one new IP Nintendo will reveal at E3.

- Nintendo is working on a new Zelda, but didn’t reveal anything to developers.

Other:

- Some developers have had the Wii 2 dev kit for going on 2 years now. When the Wii 2 is released in late, that’s 3 years to develop games on.

- Because of such generous development time, Nintendo have pushed 3rd parties to develop high quality games to be released at or near launch.

- Nintendo have sourced an external company to develop their online network, which the developer has commented, surpasses both the PS3 and 360 in terms of speed and functionality.

- Nintendo is pushing for the console to be online 24/7 and have seamless online integration with many of their games

- Friend codes are confirmed to be gone- Nintendo has been toying with the idea of a game where the main character is your Mii

- Nintendo will be pushing their Pokemon RPG to showcase their online network- Rockstar are supposedly hard at work in bringing on of their “most popular” titles to the console.

Is it true?

Most of this seems rather far-fetched.
I'm going to say that this is all baseless, and if any of it does turn out to be true, it'll just be by coincidence.

Some of this actually seems plausible. I do have a question. People say these 2 letters, but I can't find anything on Wikipedia or Google, or anything. So can someone please tell me... what does IP stand for in this context?

My thoughts:

The System:

- Uses a custom IBM triple-core CPU running at 3.6GHz per core
- The development kit contains 1gb RAM, but Nintendo have hinted that the console will actually have 1.5gb
- Nintendo will be releasing games that will run 1080p natively. Sources say that with Nintendo’s art style and the poewer the system, the games look ‘stunning’.
- The system does run on AMD R700 card, but the architecture is slightly different and the clock speeds are much higher.

Don't have a clue what the above means.

- The System resembles JPN/EU SNES machines in color only and not in shape

Don't care.

- The development kit is about the size of a 360, not the console

Why would the development kit not be the size of the console? Seems a bizarre choice to me.

- Close sources say it’s as if Nintendo is in “damage control” with 3rd party developers. Nintendo is trying really hard to get 3rd parties on board to develop games and have offered incentives such as not releasing big-title Nintendo games in holiday seasons
to compete against 3rd party titles.

So in other words, we'll get a launch as average as the 3DS one was, because Nintendo are being lapdogs to the gaming industry.

Hope this isn't true.

- Nintendo went to many 3rd party developers on guidance on what they were after with the new console in terms of system specs, controller and online system.

So great, it's been developed according to the whims of the industry boys and not the customers. Expect a system that sells to fanboys on the internet but fails miserably at selling to the average Joe who doesn't care for 'tech' power.

Just great isn't it?

The Controller:

- Nintendo have been keeping this really quiet and have only given developers controller prototypes to start designing games. However, the final controller build with all the features have only been given to Nintendo 1st and 2nd party developers for now.

So... none of the early third party games will use the console's new features at all, because they haven't been sent the right dev kit?

That's the most boneheaded, ridiculous thing I've ever heard. If it's true, it pretty much means purely Xbox 360 and PS3 ports for launch day, and ports in the most literal interpretation of the word.

In other words, this seems to clash with the third party focus. Think about it...

so we'll get few good Nintendo made games at launch to give third parties the spotlight... but now it turns out they can't use the full extent of the system and it seems the system will have an awful launch line up.

- Nintendo had planned on inserting a screen on the controller back when the Gamecube was in development, but opted out due to technology not being advanced enough to be functional

This sounds pretty plausible, considering how often Nintendo have tried and failed to use 3D before the 3DS came out. The Gamecube was going to use 3D too.

- The controller that’s been given to developers has a large 5.7inch hd (960x640pixel) screen, 2 analogue sticks, 4 face buttons, 3 middle buttons (select/home/start in that order), 2 shoulder buttons and 2 triggers.

So in other words, it's basically a hybrid of a DS touch screen and an Xbox controller. Sorry, not buying that.

- The triggers aren’t as deep as the 360’s triggers, but have plenty of push

Don't care.

- The big thing about the screen is that it’s a multi-touch screen, contains it’s own battery and is detachable from the controller unit

I like the idea of a multi touch screen. The rest would just be a confirmation of the earlier rumours.

- The screen when detached contains its own memory so developers can store data on it, so gamers can play whatever the developer designs for the screen-only use

Yawn.

- When the screen is attached to the controller it works by streaming content directly from the console

Yawn.

- Nintendo are giving developers ideas other than just having it function as a quick menu screen for games while attached, or as a simple tamagochi-like mini-game when detached

Well, this would be good news if accurate, way too many Wii and DS games just threw in motion and touch screen controls regardless of if appropriate, and stuck a map on the touch screen.

- The controller contains a gyroscope, but motion controls isn’t the focus of the controller like it was for the Wii

In other words, screw up expanded audience, we want to please shut ins now!

Games:

- Nintendo will release a Mario platformer as a launch title which hasn’t been done since the N64.

Awesome if this turns out to be true.

- The Mario platformer looks to be the spiritual successor to Mario 64.

See above.

- Gamefreak and EAD are hard at work developing a Pokemon online RPG.

I really think this sounds unlikely, people have desperately wished for this and made up rumours about it for years now, yet Game Freak don't plan to have Pokemon games on a home console.

- The Pokemon RPG is not an MMO, but does have a large online emphasis and will be Nintendo’s flagship title when showing off the online capabilities of the console
.

Huh? Interesting point, but I'm not sure how exactly an online dominant Pokemon game that's not an MMORPG will work.

- There will be at least one new IP Nintendo will reveal at E3.

Would make some sense.

- Nintendo is working on a new Zelda, but didn’t reveal anything to developers.

With Skyward Sword in development already, this sounds unlikely. Zelda games take forever to develop, and working on two at the same time is very, very improbable unless one is significantly more advanced and has more effort put into it than the other.

Other:

- Some developers have had the Wii 2 dev kit for going on 2 years now. When the Wii 2 is released in late, that’s 3 years to develop games on.

Okay, this is definitely fake. There's no practical way you can keep a conspiracy/secret going for about two years, even with non disclosure agreements.

This is sounding too much like a conspiracy theory now. Next up, Elvis lives!

- Because of such generous development time, Nintendo have pushed 3rd parties to develop high quality games to be released at or near launch.

Makes sense.

- Nintendo have sourced an external company to develop their online network, which the developer has commented, surpasses both the PS3 and 360 in terms of speed and functionality.

Not sure if this is even remotely plausible, Nintendo tends to make their stuff inhouse. Why would they now outsource this feature?

Don't they worry about what happened to Sony? Probably not a good idea to be trusting the system and security to a third party.

- Nintendo is pushing for the console to be online 24/7 and have seamless online integration with many of their games

No. If this is accurate and online is required, I am officially quitting gaming. I don't like to rely on third parties all day around.

- Friend codes are confirmed to be gone

If this is true (possible, considering how the 3DS simplified the system already), hurray!

- Nintendo has been toying with the idea of a game where the main character is your Mii

Isn't that called...

  1. Wii Sports
  2. Wii Fit
  3. Wii Music
  4. Wii Sports Resort
  5. Wii Fit Plus
  6. Wii Play
  7. Wii Play Motion
  8. Wii Party
  9. That StreetPass Mii game for the 3DS
  10. maybe even Mario Kart Wii?

- Nintendo will be pushing their Pokemon RPG to showcase their online network

Redundant.

- Rockstar are supposedly hard at work in bringing on of their “most popular” titles to the console.

Possible, but sounds like wish fulfilment.

- The development kit is about the size of a 360, not the console

Why would the development kit not be the size of the console? Seems a bizarre choice to me.
Actually, this is standard procedure. The development kit is made to have the same hardware specs and software as the actual console, but was produced before the hardware was shaved down enough to fit together in the desired shell.
