Project Sora wasn't a developer in the normal sense, anyway. It was simply a banner under which individual development staff were gathered.
Before he decided to collaborate with Namco-Bandai, Sakurai was going to hand pick developers from various sources to make his Super Smash Bros development team. So the Project Sora that would have made Super Smash Bros would have had very little resemblance to the Project Sora that made Kid Icarus: Uprising, anyway.
