Sony's latest system software update for PlayStation Vita, which released late last month, frees up 30 percent of the system's memory.

During the Unite Tokyo 2015 event (via NeoGAF), the PlayStation manufacturer shared new details on Update 3.50, noting that it "allows for 30 percent more memory size usage with games."

What does this mean, exactly? Well, with more of the system's memory now freed up to run game software, one would reasonably assume owners of the handheld could very well see a boost in performance when playing games.

The handheld's latest update also improved Remote Play by adding support for 60 frames-per-second streaming. Perhaps Sony's decision to axe support for Near, YouTube, and Maps helped contribute to this performance hike....

Using up that much for non gaming stuff? Pitful.

This is good news for PS Vita which only has 512MB of RAM. 30% of 512MB RAM saving is only 153.6 MB of RAM saving which is not a large amount of RAM now that most desktop computers, laptops, and some tablets have 4GBs or more of RAM.

The PS3 only has 256MB of system RAM, and 256MB of Video RAM, but the processor and video chip are faster. Plus, the games for the PS3 seem more well made.

I think the PS3 is still faster because it is connected to your home's electricity rather than use battery power for the Vita, so game makers could make intensive games which use a lot of power.

Plus, the PS3 uses the Cell Processors which is compared to Processors found on Super computers according to News stories I saw on TV.
