Sony's PlayStation 3 continues its good run of form in the Japanese market, trumping Nintendo's Wii in the hardware sales charts for the week ending April 5.
20,362 PlayStation 3 units were sold for the week, with 15,525 Wii consoles shifted according to figures released by Media Create and picked up by gamesindustry.biz. Microsoft's Xbox 360 found its way into 7,812 homes over the same period.
The top of the charts is still reserved for portable consoles, with Nintendo's DS leading home the PSP by 62,049 units to 48,118.
The PlayStation 3's sales have been bolstered by a string of high profile releases in Japan, including Biohazard 5 and Yakuza 3, with the resulting figures inspiring Nintendo's Satoru Iwata to state that Wii sales are, in contrast, '...in the most unhealthy situation since its launch.'
