Despite flogging the PS3 as a high definition system, Sony has long been content to ship the device with composite cables. As in, one the worst quality standard definition cables you can get.

What this means is that for millions of people who may not take this stuff as seriously as you or I might, they go buy a big HD TV, they go buy a PS3, and then...end up playing in standard definition, because nobody bothered to point out you need HD cables to go with your HD hardware (I don't want to pick on Sony exclusively for this either, as Microsoft pull the same stunt)

Well, looks like Sony is looking to make amends, as a reader passes on this new bundle that's just hitting stores. It's a new PS3 pack that includes not only a copy of LittleBigPlanet (the Game of the Year edition), but also a HDMI cable. Handily, it's a six-foot cable, too, not one of those one or two-feet ones that can barely reach your TV.

oh sure, now they do this AFTER I got my PS3.

Good for sony for bundling HDMI cables.

But, I feel also bundling Component HD cables would be good since older HDTVs only have component HD cables the (Red, Green, and Blue) which outputs video in 1080i/720P. However, I read online you can use your PS2 HD cables which are the RGB component cables for the PS3.

The Xbox 360 been bundling HD cables (component Red, Green, Blue HD cables) with their premium 20GB and elite 120GB 360s since release date.

I see nothing wrong with 2 ft. HDMI cables since if you have your PS3 on a table to the next of the TV or on the bottum in a TV stand with a shelf. It is long enough.

There are better deals (1.00-500) on HDMI cables and other types of cables on Amazon and http://monoprice.com .

Selling Cables are one of the ways offline retailers make most of their money. They mark up the prices 80-90%.

I had a copy of FF 7 AC complete at home and I didn't want to wait for a cable to come in the mail....

I guest "the high price of Cables" is a good reason to buy cables when you see them on sale online or offline even if you do not have a console or TV which uses HDMI cables like how some people who buy games even if they do not own the console for playing the game since the game is on sale or they want to buy the collectors edition before it is all sold out.
