PS4 is Power Brickless

Sony has confirmed via their twitter today, that the PS4 won't have a power brick and instead the power unit will be housed inside of the PS4.


I worry that the PS4 may have a heat issue later in it's life.

This is not good since a large power surge from unreliable power, or lightning hitting your home electrical wires can fry a power brick.

Sometimes if you are lucky, replacing a broken powerbrick with a new one sometimes fixes your console since a lot of power bricks also protect your electronics from high voltage power surges from frying your electronics. If you know hoq to fix power bricks, replacing the fried parts inside the power brick with working parts can fix the power brick.

Power bricks also eventually break like most electronics because of heat, power surges, and the parts wearing out over time.

I guest Sony did this to save money since they could use the PS4 case to cover the power adapter, and bundle one less wire.

The Xbox One comes with an External Power Brick which is replacable.

Interesting. We'll have to see how this goes; perhaps they'll make it so that you can add an additional backup adapter.

It's good for saving space, but it would need to be replaceable like an external powerbrick would be.

I think it would have been better to leave it out so it be easier to replace.
