This laptop does look good for a PS4 fan, but I would never buy one because I have no need to take a console on the go to play on a smaller TV. I think Windows and Linux Gaming laptops are a better deal, and some of the newer gaming laptops have 2-4K screens instead of 1080P screens on this laptop, so many PC games can be played in 2-4K if it comes with a good graphics card like the Nvidia 980M 2GB.
I bet in the near future, a hacker would hack the PS4 operating system to play PS4 Games on Windows or Linux with an Emulator program on a real Gaming Laptop which cost $1000 or less instead of $1400.
I read on UberGizmo that this laptop costs $1400. Naming this PS4 laptop the Playbook 4 is risky because Blackberry has a Tablet called the Playbook. The creator of the Playbook 4 could end up getting sued by Blackberry for tens of thousands of dollars, or more for using the Playbook name like how no one, but Apple could use the iPad name for a tablet.
I think the guy makes the laptops himself, so he can set his own prices for labor like how artist, musicians, and film makers can set their own prices for things like paintings, concert tickets, and movie DVDs based on how much they want to earn, and how much most fans are willing to pay without feeling like they got ripped off.
Plus, if making PS4 and Xbox One is his main source of employment, he is more likely to charge more because finding a lot of buyers to earn enough money to buy food, pay rent, and buy tools to make these laptops would not be easy if the guy does not charge more money for each laptop sold, and these laptops don't have many repeat buyers like the Apple Macbook Pro, or Windows tablet where people replace them as they age or break, and there are always many new buyers during back to school, Christmas, and Black Friday.
I think it be cheaper to make a metal or plastic suit case, make or buy the mounts to mount the PS4 parts, and LCD display onto.
I also bet as the PS4 and Xbox One has as many gamers as the Xbox 360 and PS3 there would be some third-party companies like Nyko, Madcatz, and computer case and monitors makers which make laptop kits which cost a few hundred dollars or less for converting your PS4, and Xbox One into a laptop.
Many of the modders who are into Modding mod their own consoles or computers by making the mods themselves, or buying moding kits from eBay and other places to save money, and because they want to mod it themselves since it is their hobby.
It's pretty awesome to be able to do stuff like this. I wouldn't necessarily buy it though. Both because of cost, and because it doesn't feel convenient for me. My on the go gaming system is my PSP, and occasionally by GBAs. They're small, and easier to lug around. If I want something bigger I'll just bring my laptop. Otherwise at home I just prefer playing on the TV. That's just me though. I do see the benefits of getting one for other people.
Honestly I see the price being fair. As other people have stated it includes labor, material, and resources required to build it. While it may seem cheaper, maybe it is for some people I don't see many people attempting to build one themselves. Either for lacking the time, motivation, resources, money or knowledge. It's easier to buy it, if you can afford it.
