PS4 Size

I think it's really cool how small the PS4 is compared to other consoles. I don't have a room on the shelf under my TV, and it's great to have a small console to place on a shelf. The PS3 barely fits on my shelf and it's the slim version. Here's a comparison of some console sizes:

Man that is actually pretty small, a lot smaller than I expected. At least those who end up purchasing a Playstation 4 over the Xbox One wont have to dedicate as much room to it. I never noticed much size difference between the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 but this picture did in fact make me realize the size difference.

Indeed, that thing is too small, which makes me think that the components are too close to each other and that the console will end up having overheat issues.
Let's hope that i am wrong...

That looks to be almost PS2 Slim size, perfect fit in my entertainment center I wonder how it's going to do in terms of heat dissipation, though? I would love to be able to stack my PS3 on top of it to save some room, but really don't want to run into air intake or overheating issues. Time will tell I guess.

I suppose that this will be a much faster console, considering the space between its components as been logically cut, due to the combination of superior specs and its smaller form factor. I'll go look up a Wii U comparison.

The Wii U is smaller than 65% of the PS4's size, based on the looks of things.

What you are saying makes sense but I really hope you are wrong. I have had more then my fair share of overheating and broken consoles. That is why I am using all my will power to not buy a launch console. I have been been burned way too many times. No pun intended.

Is that really it's size?! Damn, there finally cutting the middle console and going straight for the slim.
It's probably because the slim consoles are cheaper to manufacture.

Also, the XB1 and PS4 both use quad-core netbook CPUs. They have dual socket motherboards; thus, they have two quad core CPUs.

I really don't like the trend of abolishing custom hardware, though.

I didn't like the trend of abolishing consoles that didn't need fans to run. But you adapt.

That would be great! The biggest downside to the consoles has always been the clunkiness. They take up a lot of space, don't fit well into my entertainment systems and shelving. I wish that size comparison is accurate, it would make my day.
