Sony has detailed a new PS5 system software update that adds some highly-requested features, with access available to beta testers starting today.
The biggest new feature of this system software update is support for 1440p HDMI video output. This allows players to experience native 1440p output for games that support the resolution, and they may also see improved anti-aliasing via supersampling. Some fans have been requesting this feature ever since the console’s launch as they play games on a 1440p monitor.
This update will also allow gamers to better organize their collection. Like the Folders feature on PS4, players will be able to create gamelists and categorize games by genre or any other criteria of their choice. Users can have up to 15 gamelists having a maximum of 100 games each. It allows players to add digital, disc-based games, and titles they stream via PS Plus Premium, although this feature seems to be limited to the game library menu.
