Sony announced today on the PlayStation Blog that they're holding an open casting call for a PlayStation Network reality show titled "The Tester." This project sounds like the perfect match for someone who has always wanted to be a game tester, but lamented the lack of cameras and melodrama. The application seems simple enough; interested parties have to be at least 21 and answer some questions for the screening process, as well as provide a video and photo.
The 8-episode show will eliminate contestants with tests of "mental toughness, endurance, and video game knowledge." The winner gets a job as a PlayStation QA tester in the San Diego offices. That endurance and mental toughness will come in handy, seeing as QA is anything but glamorous and basically involves playing buggy games over and over. Still, it's one way to break into the games industry. Judging by questions on podcasts, that's what roughly 90% of gamers want to do anyway.
