As we reported earlier in our flash report live from Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference, the PSP will be getting direct access to the PlayStation Store on October 15th. This was actually just one of a number of network-related announcements from the company.
Sony kicked off the network section of the press conference by boasting about a few stats. The company says it has managed to top the 1.3 million mark in PlayStation Network accounts. Total downloads have topped the 25 million mark. Unique accesses number 400,000 per month.
The shop will be taking delivery of a major new form of content to coincide with the direct access on the 15th: full games available in download form the same day as their retail releases. As previously disclosed, Yuusha no Kuse Ni Namai Ikida Or2 will lead the way in this area with its release on October 16. Bleach Soul Carnival will follow on the 23rd.
Today, Sony announced additional titles for this type of sales method. The complete list includes Clack & Ratchet, Patapon 2, LocoRoco 2, Remote Detective (a detective game that was announced just last week), Diamond and the Sound of a Gunshot (same), Sarugetchu Piposaru Senki, and Resistance Retribution.
These are all first party Sony titles. First party titles will all be sold in this fashion, Sony confirmed. In the future, the company hopes to add third party titles as well.
Sony also shared first official shots of the store running off the tiny portable screen. View them in the media section below.
