Question about collecting every single Pokemon to date...

Hey everybody!

I'm posting this for general feedback, and hopefully a solution to my dilemma.

When I purchased my 3DS, I traded in my DS Lite for an extra $50 towards my purchase (keep in mind this was $250, as I got it on launch day). Since then, I have been out of the Pokemon loop; I haven't played Black or White, not even HeartGold/SoulSilver.

The last one I played was Diamond a few years back. However, recently I've been yearning to play Black/White and HeartGold. My question for everyone is this:

In buying HeartGold and Black, while owning Pearl, is there any way to get all the Pokemon to date (minus Event Legendaries/exclusive Pokemon to opposite games)?

The reason I ask this and mention trading in my DS Lite, is because without Sapphire/Ruby/Emerald, how would one obtain the Hoenn Pokemon without a GBA Slot on their DS? Generation I, II can be obtained through HeartGold, IV through Diamond, and V through Black, give or take the ones solely obtainable in their opposite games.

Perhaps someone can come up with a tactic that can allow me to achieve this longterm goal? I never found fun in the competitive aspect of Pokemon (to a degree

). I'd much rather attain that knowledge of having all the Pokemon in the digital palms of my hands xD.

Let me know what you guys think I should do to go about doing this

Heartgold, Pearl, and Black only, huh? Well, unfortunately you need Platinum, HGSS, and Black to get everything. Assuming you don't want to just be trading online for things, that is. Really, the Regis from Pearl would be helpful in getting Regigigas in Platinum, but otherwise you wouldn't need Pearl/Platinum. As long as you got an Arceus in 4th Gen (even borrowed) you could get Palkia/Dialga/Giratina in HGSS. HGSS also would give you access to all the starter Pokemon and most all legendaries.

HG was the best game to try to catch'em all. With the Pokewalker and tons of Pokemon available, it is your best bet. But hey, we don't know yet how many older Pokemon will be in BW2, so maybe that will help in your quest!

Well then perhaps I'll buy HG first and just do what I can with that. I was planning on playing that before Black/White anyway. And yeah you definitely have the right idea; I want to start fresh with this quest, meaning I'm going to be going from ground zero. I don't plan to accomplish this in a few months, as this will be a long-term process.

I am also open to trading, if it's necessary! Evolutions, retrospective exclusives, etc. Even legendaries such as Arceus that were event-only. Essentially, I want to accomplish this via the most bare minimum/non-cheating way. Example with Arceus; unless I had an Action Replay or a GameShark, there really is no other way to obtain one other than trading/borrowing, so that would have to be my solution.

Get what I'm saying?

Your post was a huge help!

Anymore feedback would still be lovely from anyone

Yeah, I never had Arceus in 4th Gen; I only borrowed one from a friend to unlock the event. I don't have much left in my copy of HG anymore, but let me know if there is anything you need for completing your data. I don't trade legendaries back and forth online (too risky), but can help with a lot of the other stuff especially in BW.

Side Note: You may want to go ahead and start up Black just to get far enough where you can download the Darkrai from the Pokemon Global Link before that event ends. I think you have to beat the first gym to have access to the online stuff.
