I remember when I was a kid, movies like Aliens, Predator, and the Terminator franchise were R rated films that were being promoted to kids as young as 7 years old. Companies had toys, action figures, costumes, comic books, and back packs being promoted at Wal-Mart and other stores in the 90's promoting these movies. So does anyone think there is something wrong with this picture? I feel like they were promoting bad influence, but that could just be me.

Because people didn't have a stick up their ass, even though some of those movies shouldn't be seen by kids.

It was always their way of making that extra amount of money. If a movie was successful and they knew they could make something that kids would be interested in that would sell they would take that opportunity.

I remember seeing this a lot and to be honest nobody ever battered an eye lid at it whereas nowadays if it were to be done they would face a lot of problems.

I've never really seen those movies as really R rated at least in comparison to what we have today. I wouldn't necessarily recommend them for kids. I can see why they'd be able to make toys, and junk from them without feeling a pang of guilt. Those movies were practically made for that sort of thing. Having a Terminator action figure is pretty cool sounding more to a kid than probably your typical adult, and parents of those kids would have been likely to buy them. It be difficult to do that sort of marketing these days. Movies like that would be put at a Pg-13 level most likely, and parents would indeed have an uproar if the R movies of today were marketed in such a way. I'm surprised they didn't back then. There were a lot more policies, and restrictions back then I believe. Can't say for certain.

I do get what your saying. It definitely would have been bad for the time at least to market these films, deemed for adults, to children. Seems a little screwy.

Violence isn't good for kids.Still,at the ending it's good(more like good guys) that wins the final battle.

So I don't really know, what to say, to this...
