I had a question about this. What is a RAM? I've seen advertisements for a GBA one. And something that goes into the Slot-2 DS slot. But I never understood what it was.
Do you mean ROM? I think it is those cards you plug into your GBA slot to play homebrew, bootleg, or video/sound card from a special cartridge that uses an SD card.
They are called adapters. While a ROM is an image of the game you would put on the card. The ROM(Which I think you mean) is a copy of the game named with an extention of what system it comes from. (Ex. Pokemon Saphire.GBA, Pokemon Platinum.NDS, and so on) This game can then be played on an emulator(Found by google, or other means, it is legal to talk about it I can give links to emulators as we call that homebrew, which is not illegal.) I use for my GBA emulation VirtualBoyAdvance, google it if you want it. I haven't found a great DS emulator as of yet. I should note that it is legal to have a ROM copy of(at least Nintendo games) a game if you own it.(Sony it is legal, but you need to make the copy yourself). And I have heard nothing of xbox emulation. Now to keep this topic legal, as I have seen many emulation/homebrew topics go into just linking to ROM hosting sites, I am going to lock this topic.
