To celebrate their 25th (!) year making video games, Rare, the good people who brought us GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64 and Conker's Bad Fur Day, are changing with the times. They've retired their old logo and replaced it with the new trademark you see above.

"Both Rare and the games industry have seen massive changes over the past 25 years, and right now it feels as if both we and the industry are continuing to evolve at an ever-increasing pace," said studio head Mark Betteridge. "With this landmark anniversary coming up, and knowing that we have a really exciting future ahead, we felt now was the time to have a new image more in keeping with an innovative and creative entertainment company which aspires to be around for at least the next 25 years!"

The company, purchased by Microsoft in 2007, is thought to be working mainly on Project Natal-powered, more casual games. The logo, in my opinion, reflects the broader focus of Rare's work -- there's something friendly about it. Something your mom would like. Check out the old logo for comparison:
