It’s been a decade since Razer shipped its first Blade laptop, and they’ve all come with Windows. That isn’t quite changing today — but a company called Lambda is now putting Ubuntu on a souped-up version of last year’s Razer Blade 15 Advanced with Razer’s full blessing, with the aim of selling it to machine learning and artificial intelligence researchers.
It’s called the Razer x Lambda Tensorbook, and the $3,500 machine is absolutely identical to a high-end version of last year’s laptop in most ways. It’s got an 11th-gen Intel Core i7 CPU, Nvidia RTX 3080 Max-Q graphics and 64GB of RAM underneath a 15.6-inch 165Hz 1440p display, all powered by a 80Wh battery inside an identically sized and shaped 4.45-pound chassis. It’s also got the same speedy I/O, including two Thunderbolt 4 ports, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, a UHS-III SD card reader and both Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

I don't think I will be shelling out $3500 for this device but pretty amazing technology for those who can afford it!

Great to see someone being more capable than me with an over thought out piece of logic and business. I think there will be an uprising in this AI tech and it's going to go too far to the point they won't tell anyone what these things are capable of at the macro-societal level.

The performance of laptop gaming graphics card cannot match the desktop counter part of the same card and the price is also really really high, not worth it imo compared to a Desktop Gaming PC.

Hopefully it comes with a GUI installed so people who know nothing about command lines can still run it.

This laptop uses Ubuntu as its operating system according to the article, so people can learn how to use Ubuntu in a few hours or less if they never use Ubuntu or a similar OS.

Ubuntu comes pre-installed with a web browser, office suite, media player, and other frequently use programs, so most users may not need to install any other third-party software from Ubuntu Software Center which is a program for installing and uninstalling programs.
