Reason Vita now has LCD

In an interview with Nikkei, House said, "The main reason is that the LCD panel can now realize an image as high quality as that of the OLED panel." House also added that the LCD panel makes it easier to slim down the PS Vita.

Nikkei wonders if the change wasn't because the LCD is less expensive than the OLED panel. I wonder that, too.

Maybe a higher quality LCD screen like the screen in the New iPhone 5S which look pretty nice would make the new Vita's screen look nicer.

OLED tech is pretty thin already... So I doubt it's that.

I'd be inclined to think that LCD is cheaper to produce and manufacture. 


Though I agree that LCD isn't as good as OLED. (If you've never seen OLED then you probably won't notice or care, but for anyone who's had an OLED screen the differences will likely be noticeable. At least at first anyway...)
