Though Wii U isn't expected to fully debut until E3 2012, that hasn't stopped Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime from discussing the console generally. In an on-air interview with Spike TV, Fils-Aime talked about Nintendo's plans for the system.

The biggest news revealed in the interview is that there will be news outside of E3 2012 - potentially even before the big show. Fils-Aime noted Nintendo plans to share information about Wii U "throughout the entire year," though wouldn't specify when, where or how.

The Nintendo executive did state that Nintendo plans on having strong material for both the console's launch, which will come between E3 and the end of the year, and launch window. A whole range of experiences are coming to the platform, though Fils-Aime declined to confirm or deny whether any specific Nintendo franchises were headed to the system.

According to the interview, Nintendo is still committed toward broadening the audience for Wii U, moving beyond Wii's more casual focus and reclaiming the hardcore market. Fils-Aime also confirmed that Shigeru Miyamoto is working on a new concept of some sort, but didn't specify the project's platform.

Regarding innovation and competition, Fils-Aime noted Nintendo drives "its own innovation agenda." The executive stated that his company isn't concerned with what others are doing, and that it was Nintendo that pushed motion gaming, something that is "taken for granted" now.
