Remnant from the Ashes was a surprising game in many ways. What initially seemed to me like a rote Gears of War clone soon revealed itself to be a wild and furiously challenging adventure across multiple planets, with imaginative weapons and ferocious boss fights. Since launch, Remnant has sold 1.6 million copies, far surpassing expectations.
"We were really surprised. We were independent at the time, and it was our first game for us like this," says John Pearl, design director at Gunfire. "It's always hard to get people into a new game … so we were really surprised by how well it was received."
Now, Gunfire is preparing for the launch of Remnant's final DLC, Subject 2923. Subject 2923 brings in several large new locations, new weapons and new bosses for players to encounter.
“We definitely tried to go into this DLC with the rural area and Ward Prime and Reisum [the DLC’s other major location] making sure they feel fully fleshed out in balance and rewards and what you’re getting,” said Pearl.
Subject 2923 will launch on August 20, priced at $10. At the same time, Remnant: From the Ashes Complete Edition will also release for $50, and will include the base game, the Swamps of Corsus DLC, as well as Subject 2923.

After following a game quite a while, watching some reviews, and reading up I've finally caved in and bought it.
After playing Borderlands 3 with a friend we decided for Remnant to be our next coop game.
The transition was...challenging.
It's quite a different beast of a game and Borderlands approach we had just isn't working. But we are having a blast and each encounter is a learning experience.
We're still progressing through the game but already can't wait for Subject 2923 coz it differs quite much from the zones we're playing now.
