One of the coolest things about owning a PlayStation Vita is the ability to link it to your PS4 and play your PS4 games remotely. And now, with the latest firmware patch in Japan, the Vita isn't the only system you can remote play PS4 games on; you can stream to the Vita TV as well.

The Asia-only Vita TV is basically a small console that, along with the PS3/PS4 controller, allows you to play Vita games on your HD TV. Now with the PS4 link, it allows you to wirelessly connect to your PS4 through your home network and play remotely your PS4 games on any TV.

But does it actually work as advertised? Check out the video above to find out.

The PlayStation Vita TV was released in Japan on November 14, 2013. There is currently no word on a Western release.

Why won't they bring it state side?

The lag when shooting, and changing the camera angles in this video seem to make playing action and shooter games harder.

I think Sony needs to release the Vita TV sooner to the US, and other countries before similar cheaper consoles like the Amazon Fire TV, Ouya, Nvidia Shield, Android TV, etc make portable TV gaming very competitive because other mini consoles like the Fire TV are have a lot more quality games for it like Sonic games, RPGs like Bards tale, Final Fantasy 1-3, Gameloft games, Grand Theft Auto 3, and the large library of Android games which are free, or cost 1-5+ dollars.

The Vita TV is not really selling well in Japan compared to other consoles with only 1,687 PS Vita TV sold in the week of April 28th - May 4th, 2014. Although, it is outselling the Xbox 360 which only sold 278 consoles for that week . But, the PSP is still selling very well for a last gen handheld console.

The PSP Vita is outselling the PS4, PS3 in Japan, and the 3DS LL is selling the most consoles for the week.

Here’s how each system sold, along with the top 20 selling games in Japan between April 28th and May 4th, 2014, according to Media Create:
Systems (Last Week in Parentheses)
  1. 3DS LL – 31,979 (27,914)
  2. PS Vita – 23,030 (22,394)
  3. PS4 – 11,486 (12,712)
  4. PS3 – 9,252 (6,726)
  5. Wii U – 8,079 (5,710)
  6. 3DS – 7,644 (6,073)
  7. PSP – 2,321 (1,957)
  8. PS Vita TV – 1,687 (1,548)
  9. Xbox 360 – 278 (242)

That both makes it better or less likely that it will be released outside of Japan, if there is stronger interest (which has been shown) they could release it to make up profits.

I agree, the unsold Vita TV could be sold to the people in the US, and other countries. Sony should start using eBay and Amazon to sell unsold Vita TV to people who want it.

Sony just needs to price it at a fair price like $99-125 with a controller, and 16GB of storage, and more people will buy it.
