1TB of space on a smartphone sounds great for carrying around a lot of emulators of gamers favorite video games from the N64, PS1-PS2, and other consoles of the past instead of playing mobile games which are not as fun sometimes.

I know a few people who could use 1TB

1 TB would just be a pain since if you lost your phone backing up and transferring would take forever if you have a lot of stuff.

There are now Micro USB storage drives for backing up files on a smartphone. Backing up files on a smartphone is easy when you use a file manager app, and you can set up your PC to backup your phone when it is charging by USB.

Having 1TB of space could mean soon there would be Smartphone games which has very large worlds, and levels like League of Legends, World of Warcraft, etc like how newer PC games have very large levels because most PC Gamers have 1TB of space on their Gaming PC thesedays.
