Read from CBR:

writer-director Johannes Roberts will helm a Resident Evil origin movie starring Maze Runner's Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Kennedy and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin.

"With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today's audiences," Roberts said in a statement.

Resident Evil producer Robert Kulzer added, "After a dozen games, six live-action movies and hundreds of pages of fan fiction, we felt compelled to return to the year 1998, to explore the secrets hidden in the walls of the Spenser Mansion and Raccoon City."

They go through some good points on IGN.

Are you a RE fan Pyrexian Pyrexian . I am a fan of Chris Redfield.

I enjoyed RE2 and RE3 back in the day and was blown away with their remasters.
Movies were fun distraction but later become cluttered mess that had little to nothing with RE series.
Also being a horror fan I'm fan of final girls so I gotta go with Jill Valentine

Johannes Roberts, the director of the upcoming Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, described the highly anticipated reboot film as a "scary as hell" origin story.

"The movie is very much an origin story for Resident Evil," Roberts told Variety. "It's an ensemble piece, and Raccoon City plays a big part and is a character in the movie." He added, "It's about this group of people all coming from different angles -- some coming into town, some already having grown up in this town -- meeting over this one fateful night."

Roberts further revealed that, for him, the tone of the reboot was the most important thing. "The thing that I loved with the games that they were just scary as hell, and that is very much the atmosphere," he continued. "It's raining constantly, it's dark, it's creepy… and then mixed with the sort of more fun side, especially with the first game, of what's 'round the corner, that kind of style of storytelling."

Roberts cited the 2019 remake of the second Resident Evil video game as his biggest inspiration for the upcoming film.

"[That] was probably the entry point into the movie for me," the director revealed. "That game came out and it just blew me away, and from that moment on I think we all knew where we were going with this movie because it was such a wonderful cinematic experience with the tone, the constant dark rain, that sort of aspect of the game."

The release date for Sony Pictures' Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City has been shifted by two months.

Instead of premiering on Sept. 3, the reboot of the Resident Evil film franchise will now arrive on Wednesday, Nov. 24, which is one day before Thanksgiving. The two-month change may also allow more theaters to be open at a larger capacity while coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions are lifted around the country.

Read Director's comments on Lisa Trevor:

"Lisa Trevor is actually quite a pivotal role in the movie. I was always fascinated by her when playing the remake of the first game. I found her character both disturbing and at the same time strangely haunting. When we were discussing how to bring this story to life it was one of the elements that I really wanted to feature strongly as she has never been in any of the filmed versions of Resident Evil. I wanted her to be a three-dimensional character, not just some creepy specter. We cast Marina Mazepa, who had just done Malignant for James Wan and really worked hard in bringing this character to life in a way I think the fans are going to love so much. She’s terrifying but also tragic. In the movie, we really connect her to Claire Redfield’s story, starting with the orphanage where Claire grew up."

Saw first trailer, not scary imo, though Licker creature looks good the end of the trailer:

Read Chris Redfield's actor Robbie Amell Interiew by CBR:

With this being the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, was there anything you wanted to bring from the games for your performance? Or did you want to start with a blank canvas?

Robbie Amell: No, I grew up playing those games. One of my earliest video game memories was playing Resident Evil in the dark, with the dogs jumping in through the window and scaring the hell out of me. I was very familiar with Chris Redfield and the IP and then I met with Johannes [Roberts] and read his script and was like, "This is the guy to be making this movie!" He's passionate about it. He's a gamer. He knows what to deliver with this movie. The big thing was trying to find the human version of Chris because the video game version of Chris is a little bit flat. It works well for the video game but it's a by-the-book supercop in a small town: it's not a complete person.

Speaking with Johannes, seeing what he put in the script, and finding that character that felt like a human being that was relatable and people could see themselves in -- I felt really confident and comfortable in bringing that character to life. I like that when you meet this guy, he has some regrets and he's not in a great place. He's a little defensive when he sees Claire because he's probably not too happy with the way he's handled things for a long time. He doesn't have a great relationship with his new father figure after losing his family. This is a guy with some past and some problems with his childhood who needs to come to terms with that over the course of the film.

Your most emotionally raw scenes in the film are with Kaya Scodelario, and like you were saying, Chris knows Umbrella is up to something. How is it weaving in that nuance and trusting Kaya as a screen partner as you dig into those emotions?

First of all, it's great to work with Kaya because I'm a huge fan of hers. She's just an awesome actress. That was one of the first things we shot. Even though we're siblings, we haven't had a great relationship for a long time. It was nice for us to get to know each other while our characters became close again, the timing was in our favor on that. It's nice to be able to play with that emotion, with the subtext that she shows up after we haven't seen each other for a long time. She's talking about some crazy stuff, which I know that there's some truth to it, but she's talking about crazy stuff when nobody knows there are zombies yet.

It's easy to be like, "What are you talking about?!" But it's also, "I don't want to have this conversation with you or do anything with you right now because I haven't come to terms with the way our relationship ended the last time I saw you." It was great to have all those things going while going, "Shut up!" There are no zombies!"

Where would you personally like to see the movies and your character go next?

There's so much to pull from there. I was texting with Johannes a little earlier because someone mentioned Code: Veronica was something he'd be up for adapting and that'd be awesome. Shoot in Europe, make our way to Antarctica, it would be awesome. If [Johannes] is involved, I trust him. He's so good at finding that balance of film and video games and I think he delivers on this. I think people who grew up with the games are going to lose their minds.

Saw it. Movie was a lot better than the previous RE live action movies with Milla Jovovich but still not good enough. Movie was too fast, though zombies were good enough but only one Licker, dang it and no hunter monster at all. Not enough action and not even scary. and they made Jill pinning on Wesker what the heck though Claire mentioned Chris was/still pinning on Jill. Jill should be pining on Chris, wrong ship, and Wesker was not murderous and cool villain like in the games in this one meh. The brother and sister duo, Chris was good enough and Claire was nicely done at least in the movie oh and Ada wong
though only in one scene
was also good enough but Jill and Wesker were meh and while am not a fan of Leon, he was also bad in the movie. Also no Barry.
